Adire is a resist-dyed cloth produced and worn by the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria in West Africa. The Yoruba label adire, which means “tied and dyed,” was first applied to indigo-dyed cloth decorated with resist patterns.
There’s an unpopular opinion about adire, which is, it ought to be worn to very special religious or ceremonial occasions, such as festivals, weddings, funerals, etc. Adire can be infused into our everyday look and I will tell you and show you how.
