At Adirelounge one of our 2018 goals was to start community developments were we train rural women and out of school youths in the Adire Skill. Our mission is creating prosperity for Africa women and youths and their families. And also ensure that the “Adire” skill itself does not go extinct because most of the practitioners are old and aged.
By doing this we are supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and they are:
- No Poverty – Goal 1
- Quality Education – Goal 4
- Gender Equality – Goal 8
- Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – Goal 9
- Reduced Inequalities – Goal 10
- Responsible consumption and production – Goal 12
This community project held at a community in Ajah area of Lagos State for rural women and out of jobs youth who learned this skill and they will be able to start their own cottage business.
As a company we are elated that we could carry this out, impacting lives, ensuring that the art itself does not go extinct. The women were elated when they learnt that scarves they made were free for them including the training.
Thankful we could improve lives and ensure their families can create prosperity because of this training.
We are opened to partnerships too. Kindly send an email to Adirelounge@gmail.com
